Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 September, the Senate hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoev with a delegation of the House of Representatives of the Japanese Parliament.
During the conversation, members of the delegation were informed about large-scale reforms carried out in the country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev. Their practical results affect the improvement of the business climate, the stability of macroeconomic indicators, the growing interest of foreign countries and authoritative international financial institutions in deepening cooperation with the republic. So, thanks to the financial and technical assistance of Japan, Uzbekistan has implemented a number of socially significant and infrastructure projects in the areas of healthcare, education, energy, transport, telecommunications and other areas.
The growing role of the parliament was noted, which ensures the creation and improvement of the legal basis of the implemented reforms. In this regard, it was emphasized that the intensification of inter-parliamentary dialogue between Uzbekistan and Japan serves to develop and strengthen the mechanism of interaction of parliamentarians. A special role in these processes belongs to the Oliy Majlis - Parliament of Japan Inter-Parliamentary Group, the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan and the Friendship League of the Democratic Party of Japan - Uzbekistan.
An exchange of views also took place on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, including the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, as well as on regional and international issues.
It was noted that the bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan is characterized by high dynamics of strategic partnership on all aspects of the international and regional agenda.
“We see Uzbekistan as a country that plays an important role in Japanese politics,” said Karen Makishima, a member of the House of Representatives of Japan. “Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank the people of Uzbekistan for their careful attitude to the memory of the Japanese.”
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue to make every effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
