Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 June, a press conference on the theme: “Forming a system of training qualified personnel for the textile and garment and knitwear industry, introducing innovative areas in the education system and deepening research, studying foreign experience, using internal capabilities, international cooperation" was held in Tashkent.
The event was organized by the Association "Uztextileprom" with the participation of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, as well as the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology KITECH.
The press conference was attended by the leadership of the Association, experts of the textile industry, the leadership of the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, representatives of enterprises of the textile and garment and knitwear industry, foreign companies and the media.
During the event, representatives of the Uztextileprom Association presented information on the implementation of projects for the training of qualified personnel for the textile industry, the introduction of innovative training systems and the deepening of scientific research, the study of foreign experience in this area, the use of domestic resources, and international cooperation.
The event summed up the activities of the Association for the first half of 2019 and discussed the further formation and development of a system of training qualified personnel for the textile and garment and knitwear industry, the introduction of innovative approaches in the system of training and the deepening of scientific research.
Today, about seven thousand enterprises operate in the textile industry of Uzbekistan. Only the Association Uztextileprom includes 1,610 industrial enterprises, of which 433 are textile and 1,177 are sewing and knitwear.
In the light of the fulfillment of the tasks set, the enterprises of the Association in January-June 2019, according to the latest information, produced consumer goods for 5 trillion soums, the growth rate compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 20.2%, the volume of industrial production was 8.62 trillion soums with a growth rate of 14%, while the main focus was on increasing the production of finished products with high surplus value, the proportion that exceeded 58% in the total industrial production.
In solving the tasks of increasing employment and sustainable growth of incomes of the population, the priority role in the activities of the Association is given to the implementation of the State program for the creation of new jobs.
Thus, according to current information, in the first half of 2019, 7,735 new jobs were created, including through investment –5119, through production development –2,628, through localization –8.
Within the framework of the Year of Active Investments and Social Development, it is planned to implement 27 investment projects with a total value of US$1.2 billion and a forecast for the development of US$250.0 million due to foreign direct investment.
In addition, in 2019, 50 investment projects are planned additionally for the total amount of US$763.0 million (including US$257.1 million of own funds of the project initiators, US$478.5 million due to loans and US$ 27.2 million. foreign investment) and the creation of 11,880 new jobs.
Recently, along with large-scale textile productions, small sewing workshops have been created in the countryside. As part of the “Obod qishloq” program, 368 rural settlements are attached to 200 enterprises of the textile and garment and knitwear industry to organize production. Based on this, for example, in Karakalpakstan, in 15 districts, 22 projects worth about 2.4 billion soums were implemented for organizing small sewing shops, and 12 similar projects worth nearly 1.6 billion soums were implemented in 12 districts of Bukhara region.
Participants of the event noted that the growth of the production base of textile production in Uzbekistan is visible.
A unique Uzbek-South Korean project is currently being implemented, which has no equal throughout the CIS. This is the future of the textile industry of Uzbekistan - teaching and research textile technopark, which is launched in test mode.
Personnel will be forged here for textile enterprises of a new formation, equipped not only with modern equipment, but also using the latest information and communication technologies. In the innovation sphere, research will be conducted on the development of new, non-wetting, non-deformable, non-shedding fabrics in demand on the world market. Construction and installation work, the purchase of technological equipment and personnel training will be funded by the South Korean government.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will also help prepare specialists for the textile industry of Uzbekistan. Now ADB is preparing a program of cooperation with Uzbekistan for 2020-2022. At the end of May this year, preliminary agreements were reached with an Asian bank on a loan to improve the quality of education, including in the textile industry in remote regions of the country.
An agreement was reached with the Chinese company AVIC INTL on organizing internships for students (up to 6 months) and teachers (up to 3 months) in specialized colleges of the PRC at the expense of partners from the PRC.
At the same time, the delegation of the Association held talks with representatives of the company “AVIC INTL”. During the meeting, the details of the Agreement on the implementation of the project for the creation of training centers in the Republic of Uzbekistan (by areas) in the textile industry were discussed.
During the press conference, the presentation of the Global Textile Days Tashkent 2019 project, first organized by the Association and international partners in Tashkent, which will take place from 10 to 14 September 2019, was also held. All participants of the event were invited to the Global Textile Days in Tashkent.
