General Prosecutor’s Offices of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan discuss development of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Otabek Murodov received a delegation led by the Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Farid Hamidi.
During the meeting, the guests were informed about the priority areas of activity and major transformations of the prosecution authorities.
The meeting participants noted the ongoing development of cooperation between the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through the establishment of professional contacts and the expansion of the legal framework.
The sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, exchanged views on the prospects for the development of interagency cooperation. In particular, they discussed the issue of training employees of the prosecution authorities of Afghanistan at the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum between the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on mutual understanding and cooperation. The implementation of this document will give new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation through the exchange of information and best practices in the legal sphere.
It was noted that the visit of the Afghan delegation is an important step towards the further expansion and strengthening of the existing fruitful relations.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Hamidi expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and expressed his readiness to develop mutually beneficial inter-agency cooperation.
