Uzbek Ambassador to the Netherlands visited the University of Leiden

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 23 April 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Netherlands Dilyor Khakimov visited one of Europe’s leading European research and educational centers - Leiden University.
At the university he met and held talks with the deputy director of the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS) of the university Vilém Vogelsang and Leading Researcher at the Institute, Professor of Asian Studies Amine Mehdi.
As noted during the conversation, the Uzbek side is interested in developing multi-faceted cooperation with IIAS, one of the recognized leaders in research in the humanities and social sciences, as well as a platform for knowledge sharing, in which international partners participate.
Taking into account the role of Uzbekistan in the transformation of political and economic processes in the region, the parties agreed on the importance of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, which should contribute to a better and more comprehensive understanding of the contemporary realities of Asian countries, as well as encourage dialogue and expert interaction.
Following the talks, a plan of joint activities was agreed:
- study of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to participate on 16-19 July in the 11th International Convention of Asian Researchers and the conference on the theme “Political economy and the impact of the initiative“ One belt - one way ”;
- study of the issue of establishing IIAS cooperation with the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, the Institute of Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, the Coordination and Analytical Center for International Cooperation and Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
