Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- It has recently become a good tradition to organize meetings with compatriots educated in educational institutions of the Russian Federation at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia. This time, the students of the diplomatic mission were Uzbek students studying at the National Research Nuclear University "Moscow Engineering Physics Institute" (MEPhI).
Heads and representatives of MEPhI, the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, the Private Establishment for the International Regional Network of the Atomic Energy Industry Complex Rusatom - International Network (part of ROSATOM) and the Atomic Energy Development Agency arrived at the Embassy for a dialogue with Uzbek youth and officials of UZATOM.
Currently 58 students from Uzbekistan receive education at the MEPhI. A branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI is being established in Tashkent, where personnel for the nuclear power industry of Uzbekistan will be trained.
The meeting was opened by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation, Botirjon Asadov, who noted that at the present stage, Uzbek-Russian relations are developing dynamically in the spirit of the principles of friendship, strategic partnership and alliance.
The leaders of the two countries, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin, regularly hold bilateral talks, meet at international summits and discuss issues of mutually beneficial cooperation during telephone conversations. The breakthrough event was the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation in April 2017. New horizons of interaction were opened by the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in October 2018, during which the first Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan was held, as well as a joint Educational Forum. The presidents launched the launch of a project to build the first nuclear power plant in Central Asia, which marked the birth of a new strategic industry in the Uzbek economy.
It was noted that the creation of the field of nuclear energy entails the accelerated development of not only energy, but also other areas, including science, training. Opportunities in agriculture, medicine, construction and technology are increasing. As international experience shows, the development of this industry for the country is becoming a catalyst for the development of many spheres. It was emphasized that the Uzbek students of the MEPhI had the honor of becoming “pioneers” in the birth of the nuclear industry in Uzbekistan. They will implement the ideas and intentions that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev outlined.
In turn, the head of Rusatom - International Network, Alexander Merten, acquainted those present with the activities of the state corporation, the projects being implemented with foreign partners, including Uzbekistan. Expressing gratitude to the Uzbek side for choosing MEPhI to train specialists for the republic’s nuclear industry, A. Merten said that Rosatom and RUSATOM are aimed at further building up mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Merten announced the readiness of the Russian side to organize an internship for representatives of Uzbekistan in enterprises and companies that are part of RUSATOM. In addition, it is indicated the possibility of participation of distinguished students from Uzbekistan in exhibitions and expositions organized by the corporation abroad, as well as in the implementation of joint programs.
Deputy Director General of the Agency for the Development of Nuclear Energy of Uzbekistan “UZATOM” Bahrom Mansurov believes that the Uzbeks studying today at the MEPhI will play a crucial role in creating the nuclear power industry of the republic.
“We have high hopes for you,” said B. Mansurov, addressing his compatriots. - The main part of the students have already concluded tripartite agreements, according to which “UZATOM” undertakes to provide them with work on graduation. We are also ready to support financially.
A representative of the Agency also urged young people to strive to gain in-depth knowledge, improve their academic performance and work on themselves.
The diplomats of the Embassy gave our youth detailed consultations on the issues of consular registration, issuing travel documents for family members, obtaining permission for temporary departure or permanent residence. Indicated the need to comply with the laws of the host country, and in the event of an emergency, immediately contact a diplomatic mission. Particular attention was paid to the issue of registration of a biometric passport of a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan introduced on January 1, 2019 to travel abroad. The participants were provided with explanations on the list of necessary documents, deadlines and other aspects of using a new passport.
The attention of students is drawn to the activities of the Foundation “El-Yurt Umidi”, which is designed to train specialists abroad and establish a dialogue with compatriots living in different parts of the world. It was emphasized that one of its priorities is to support young professionals in acquiring advanced knowledge for the benefit of the development of Uzbekistan. Presentation of scholarships and grants provided by the Foundation.
