Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- With the resumption of eleven-year education in Uzbekistan, the question of vocational guidance in schools has become acute. Knauf has developed a “Find Your Vocation” program that will help high school students choose their future profession.
On February 14, 2019, the first participants of the Find Your Vocation program visited the Knauf gypsum board production plant. During the visit, pupils of the 11th grade of school No. 17 of Bukhara familiarized themselves with the work of specialists from various departments of the company and discussed issues of vocational guidance with them. Also for schoolchildren, a videoconference was organized with a compatriot working in London who held a motivational session and answered questions from the audience.
“At the age of 16, a teenager does not have a clear idea of his future profession. Children go where their parents will say, where the passing score is less, or they choose popular areas like accounting or jurisprudence. As a result, someone leaves the institute, and someone does not work in their specialty. We want schoolchildren to understand that in addition to the fashion professions, there are many more, very interesting and in demand. And now it is not only about engineers and craftsmen - specialists from various fields work at the KNAUF plant,” Sanjar Atayev, head of the KNAUF Information and Consulting Center, said.
“After the pilot sessions at the school, the teachers told me that the children did not have enough communication with successful, enthusiastic, people in love with their work. Yes, I myself saw it by the lively response that I received from the class. The “Find Your Calling” program will help students in grades 10–11 to find their professional path,” he added.
The project “Find Your Calling” will help high school students to decide on the choice of profession. The program consists of two parts:
