Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan holds talks with the delegation of Turkey
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting of the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov with the Turkish delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Mithat Zhansiz took place in Tashkent on February 14, 2019.
During the meeting, the progress of the implementation of previously reached agreements with a number of Turkish companies was discussed, as well as proposals to accelerate the progress of partnership projects in the energy sector, including the construction of power facilities, as well as geological exploration were considered.
In particular, Turkish companies are currently working on projects that are promising for implementation in Uzbekistan in areas such as the construction of combined-cycle plants, solar and wind power plants.
They also showed interest in the implementation of a pilot project for construction of a solar power station and a wind farm, projects for the construction of combined power plants in Uzbekistan.
In addition, the issue of exploration and development of identified deposits of strategic minerals, in particular, tungsten and gold deposits in Navoi and Jizzakh regions, is being worked out.
On February 13, 2019, the parties signed an agreement on geological exploration and pilot production at Sarytau, Khurob, and Aydim-Dzhetimuta areas, which are promising to identify tungsten and gold deposits in Navoi and Jizzakh regions. The Turkish side made financial commitments to invest at least US$1.5 million in the first year.
The Turkish side praised the implementation of the “road map” for mutually beneficial cooperation and expressed interest in further expanding cooperation. In particular, it was proposed to consider the possibility of participation of the Turkish oil and gas company TRAO in the projects of the oil and gas industry of Uzbekistan. They also expressed readiness to provide all necessary assistance for the implementation of joint projects and active investment in Uzbekistan.
