President signs law “On ratification of the Constitution of the International Organization for Migration”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On ratification of the Constitution of the International Organization for Migration (Brussels, October 19, 1953)”.
It should be noted that the 109th session of the Council of the UN Agency for Migration, which took place in November 2018 in Geneva, voted in favor of supporting the application of the Republic of Uzbekistan to join IOM as a member state. In the result, total number of member countries reached 173.
The International Organization for Migration, established in 1951, is a UN agency on migration. The IOM Constitution (Charter) was signed in Brussels on 19 October 1953.
