Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the invitation of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia, the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Nigmatulla Yuldoshev is on a visit to the Russian Federation.
During the meeting with the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, it was noted that due to the political will and determination of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a qualitatively new level in the development of the Uzbek-Russian strategic and allied partnership was reached. This fact was clearly demonstrated during the state visit of the President of Russia to Uzbekistan in October 2018.

“The visit to the Council of the Federation of colleagues from the Senate of Oliy Majlis confirms the mutual intention to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation. Traditions of friendship and mutual respect are the foundation on which relations between Russia and Uzbekistan are built,” Valentina Matvienko said.
The chairman of the Federation Council noted a significant increase in Russian-Uzbek inter-parliamentary relations over the past two years. She expressed confidence that the legislators can play an important role in the further development of interstate cooperation, including in the regional direction.
The head of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament proposed to strengthen the work of coordinating legislative initiatives at international platforms. “I would like to hope that the Uzbek colleagues will join as an observer to the work of the IPA CIS”.
Valentina Matvienko drew attention to the whole range of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, which includes political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, educational, investment cooperation, sports and tourism.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev said that thanks to the leaders of the two countries, the Russian-Uzbek relations have become a strategic partnership and alliance. "Comprehensive expansion of mutually beneficial relations with Russia is a priority for Uzbekistan."
“The tasks of strengthening the ties between the Senate of Oliy Majlis and the Federation Council are among the key areas. In Tashkent, they are ready to expand cooperation in order to give the Russian-Uzbek dialogue an active dynamic. ”
Nigmatilla Yuldashev outlined the directions for the joint “roadmap” of cooperation in the framework of the Russian-Uzbek Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Commission for 2019.
According to the Chairman of the Upper Chamber of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, a significantly increased level of bilateral relations in all areas of interstate cooperation with Russia is in the interests of his country.
Following the meeting, the parties signed cooperation agreements between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, which undoubtedly is the basis for the implementation of the full range of tasks to further expand inter-parliamentary contacts.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev invited Valentina Matvienko to visit Uzbekistan on an official visit.
During the visit, on 7 November, meetings were held with prominent political figures of the Russian Federation, during which the parties confirmed the proximity and coincidence of positions and assessments of the state and prospects of cooperation between the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Russia.
In particular, during a meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, a wide range of issues of development of bilateral cooperation was discussed, an exchange of information and views on measures taken in both countries to further progress bilateral relations took place.
It was noted that over the past year, more than 80 mutual visits of high-level delegations took place. In September of this year, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission chaired by heads of government was productively held. In recent months, the regions of Uzbekistan have established partnerships with 28 regions of Russia. Since the beginning of the year, trade has grown by more than 30%. The issues of increasing mutual supplies of demanded products, developing infrastructure, strengthening cooperation and implementing joint promising investment projects in various sectors of the economy are being worked out.
A meeting of the Commission for Cooperation between the Council of the Federation and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was also held. During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan considers the official visit of the parliamentary delegation to Russia as an important step towards further enhancing the relationship between Uzbekistan and Russia.
In this context, the parties discussed in detail the full range of issues of further deepening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, enhancing the activities of the Uzbek-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation. In general, while appreciating the nature and content of the Uzbek-Russian relations, the parties agreed that there is still untapped potential in the field of trade, investment, information and communication technologies, agriculture, food industry, tourism and transport. In this regard, they stressed the need to actively use the parliamentary resource for the implementation of the agreements reached during the Tashkent Summit of Heads of States, further deepening interregional cooperation, and accelerating the ratification of bilateral treaties and agreements.
It was underlined that the intensity of bilateral political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations is steadily increasing, which fully meets the interests of the peoples of the two states.
