Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan reach USUS$14.7 billion in January-May

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to US$14.7 billion in January-May of 2018, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
In the reporting period, Uzbekistan’s exports reached US$6.5 billion and imports - US$8.2 billion. The balance of foreign trade was minus US$1.7 billion.
Exports of energy carriers and petroleum products increased by 64.3% as compared to the same period of last year, 1.8 times due to export of natural gas, chemical products and products from it - by 2.6%, due to exports of plastics and of products from them - by 18.5%.
The volume of exports of food products increased by 60.9% due to an increase in the export of fruit and vegetable products by 73.8%.
In the structure of imports, the major share is accounted for by machinery and equipment - 33.7%, chemical products and products from it - 11.5%.
The share of services in the total volume of exports was 29.8%, including 10.4% - transportation services, and 17.6% - related to travel.
In January-May 2018, the balance of foreign trade was minus US$1.73 billion, including with the CIS countries - minus US$887.6 million and with other countries - minus US$844.2 million.
Among the CIS countries the main foreign trade partners are Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, which account for 27.5% of the foreign trade turnover, among others - China, Turkey, the Republic of Korea, Afghanistan, Germany, Latvia, Iran, France, which account for 32.1% of the total foreign trade turnover.
The volume of exports of fruit and vegetable products amounted to US$305.4 million, or increased, in comparison with the same period last year, by 73.8%. From the total volume of fruits and vegetables, the share of fruits and berries amounted to 40.6% (increased by 2.2% compared to the same period last year), vegetables - 49.0% (58.9%), grapes - 7, 5% (decreased by 0.4%).
In the export of fruit and vegetables, the main partners are Kazakhstan (out of a total of 47.4%), Russia (13.4%), Afghanistan (7.7%), Kyrgyzstan (7.3%), China (4.7%), Vietnam (4.4%), Turkey (3.0%), Pakistan (2.0%) and Iran (1.3%).
The physical volume of exports of fruit and vegetable products amounted to 434.5 thousand tonnes, or increased, compared to the same period last year, by 88.7%. Of the total volume of fruit and vegetable products, the number of fruits and berries amounted to 59.4 thousand tonnes, (increased by 39.4% compared to the same period of the last year), vegetables 338.9 thousand tonnes (2.2 times), grapes - 25,5 thousand tonnes (decrease by 16,0%), peanuts - 9,9 thousand tonnes (5,5 times), melons and fresh water melons - 772,2 tonnes (11,4 times).
According to the results of January-May 2018, the share of exports of textiles in the total volume of exports was 8.3%. The volume of exports of textile products amounted to US$536.5 million, or increased by 15.3% compared to the same period last year.
