Potential of Uzbekistan’s pilgrimage tourism presented in Malaysia

The Committee for Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the State Committee for Tourism Development is holding a series of meetings in foreign countries aimed at promoting and further developing the potential of the country’s tourism industry.
The Uzbek delegation is currently making one of such visits to Malaysia, the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan said.
Members of the delegation of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur met with representatives of the state fund "Tabung Khazhi", which deals with issues of hajj in Malaysia.
At the end of the talks, the chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Usmonkhon Alimov presented gifts to foreign partners.
Earlier it was reported that the delegation of Uzbekistan for the first time took part in the International Tourism Exhibition Travel Turkey Izmir-2017, during which foreign partners were given an opportunity to get acquainted with the huge potential in the direction of Ziyarat-tourism (pilgrimage tourism), investment opportunities, and opportunities to establish mutually beneficial cooperation.
In addition, a number of reforms are being implemented to create comfort for pilgrims. In particular, a 24-hour prayer room for Muslims is organized at the Islam Karimov International Airport in Tashkent, and it is equipped with a place for small bathing.
Also in all hotels in Uzbekistan, starting from 1 January 2018, religious books will be exhibited, in particular the Qoran, as well as a prayer rug. In accordance with the amended general rules for accommodation of guests, in each hotel at least 30% of total number of rooms should be signs indicating the direction towards the Qibla, and prayer rugs and the Qoran - in one tenth of all rooms.
