High-speed train Afrosiyob starts to run on route Tashkent-Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways) launched a high-speed railway communication between Tashkent and Bukhara.
The Uzbek company said that high-speed train Afrosiyob carried out its first trip on new route on 25 August 2016.
High-speed railway communication was organized in line with the presidential resolution from 26 March 2016.
Within the project Uzbekistan Temir Yollari electrified the railway area Samarqand-Bukhara. The project’s cost is about US$400 million. The project was implemented within 16 months.
The length of the road in this direction is 259km. The metal fences were installed along the 500 km high-speed road to ensure safety.
Two high speed trains will run on route Tashkent-Bukhara. This will help to cut travel time twice. The train will spend 3 hours and 20 minutes to run 600 km road from Tashkent to Bukhara. Earlier, the passengers spent 7-8 hours to travel from capital to Bukhara or vice-versa.
The company said that new station was constructed in Kattaqurgon city, which meets all modern requirements. Its capacity is 100 passengers an hour.
Uzbekistan Temir Yollari also reconstructed Bukhara station, which now can provide services to 100 passengers an hour.
All conditions were created in the station for passengers. The station was equipped with modern equipment and has waiting hall, Mother and Child room, Healthcare Room, Ticket Sales Offices, etc.
It is worth to mention that total length of high-speed railway communication reached 700 km after completion of this project.
