Envoy: Uzbekistan and Russia develop agreement on labour migrants

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Russia are developing a draft intergovernmental agreement on organized selection of the citizens for conducting temporary labour activities in Russia, the Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev said.
He said that the agreement will regulate processing of staying of citizens of Uzbekistan, who want to work in Russia, in the territory of the Russian Federation.
He underlined that Russian migration legislation is improved regularly. He recalled that new order of attraction of foreign workers was introduced in Russia almost a year ago. He said that foreign workers, who do not need visas to enter Russia, should obtain special permissions to work in Russia.
The Russian diplomat said that Russian introduced mechanism of banning entrance of people to Russia was also introduced in 2015. If the person exceeds maximum term of staying in Russia for 120 days, he or she will not be able to enter Russia for three years, for 270 days – five years and for over a 1 year – 10 years.
Russia continues to be attractive country for foreign workers, he said. Envoy added that about 1.9 million Uzbek citizens were in Russia in November 2015, according to data of the Russian Migration Service.
Earlier it was reported that Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of Uzbekistan developed a draft intergovernmental agreement on organized recruitment and hire of the citizens of Uzbekistan to carry out labour activities in the Russian Federation with provision of social, legal and other guarantees.
The draft document was sent to the Russian side via diplomatic channels and currently the document is considered by Russia.
