Active participation of women in farmers’ movement discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 October 2015, the Executive Committee of Political Council of UzLiDeP, faction in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and Council of farmers of the Republic of Uzbekistan under the party project “Women-farmers” organized the republican practical seminar on “Active participation of women in farmers’ movement”.

Special attention at the event was paid to the priority program objectives of UzLiDeP as deepening of reforms in agriculture, support of farmers’ movement, formation of required effective infrastructure and providing farmers with even more privileges and preferences.

Today, 57 thousand farms in the country are expanding their activities including a processing of agricultural products and providing of services. Over the past 9 months of this year, via the development of farming enterprises 112,800 new jobs were created. It should be noted that most of the workers in this sector are women and college graduates.

UzLiDeP in its activities pays special attention to enhancing the role and importance of the farmers’ movement in the development of regions, especially the important task of ensuring grain self-sufficiency and food security.

So,UzLiDeP together with partner organizations implements the project “Women-farmers”. The main objective of the project is to explain to women farmers essence and significance implemented in our country socio-economic reforms, promote their advanced experience, increase the number of multi-farms, creating jobs in remote villages.

In addition, UzLiDeP parliamentary group in local councils of people’s deputies within this project held 275 meetings and practical conversations to solve the actual problems of farmers. In the future, UzLiDeP is planning to publish a special brochure on the experience of the most active and best female country’s farmers.

During the seminar, women farmers from all regions of the country share their experiences and methods of work. There was an exhibition of agricultural products grown by farmers.
