Uzbekistan to create Center of dietology

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On further improving realized measures in sphere of healthy nutrition of population of Uzbekistan” on 25 April 2015.

The document was adopted for further improving realized measures in the sphere of healthy nutrition of population of Uzbekistan, directed at strengthening health of population, preventing diseases, as well as creating necessary requirements for medical science to meet demands of various groups of population in healthy nutrition.

The Government set main directions on ensuring healthy nutrition of population of Uzbekistan.

In particular, the resolution said that the country should organize wide-scale explanation work and strengthen promotion of healthy nutrition as the bases for healthy lifestyle.

The document said that it is also necessary to develop educational programmes for various groups of population on healthy nutrition to decrease illnesses related with food.

According to the resolution, it is also necessary to develop fundamental researches in healthy nutrition sphere and improve organization of nutrition at organized collectives and medical institutions.

The Government underlined that there is also need to expand production of local food materials based on modern requirements to quality and security, as well as develop production of food products, enriched with necessary components, and specialized products for children, dietetic foodstuff and biologic active replenishers to food.

Among priorities are also to develop and adopt technical regalements and national standards in food industry, as well as improve mechanisms of control over food products, manufactured in Uzbekistan and imported from abroad.

The Government of Uzbekistan created the Republican Commission on organization and control over implementation of complex measures in sphere of healthy nutrition of population of Uzbekistan. Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan will be working body of the commission.

Main goals of the Republican commission are:

- coordinate activity of ministries, departments, institutions and organizations, independently from form of property, related with implementation of complex measures in healthy nutrition of population of Uzbekistan;

- review existing and develop new legal documents in sphere of healthy nutrition in Uzbekistan;

- create conditions for attracting international organizations and foreign investors into food industry and agriculture sector;

- organize regular monitoring over execution of complex measures in healthy nutrition of population.

The Republican commission was entrusted to develop and submit to the Concept and complex measures on healthy nutrition to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

The Government approved a proposal on creation of Republican educational-scientific center of dietology (Center of dietology). The Center of dietology will be division of Tashkent Medical Academy.

The center of dietology will be main organization for conducting single scientific and practical policy in healthcare nutrition in line with modern international standards and security in food products.

The Center will be develop and introduce efficient methods and educational programme on healthy and dietetical food for healthcare specialists and population, conduct training for students and specialists on healthy nutrition.

The Center also will conduct scientific researches, directed at expanding local production of foods and food materials in line with modern requirements of quality and healthy nutrition, as well as improve structure of population nutrition.

The Center will be financed due to state budget resources, grants of the Ministry of Healthcare and international financial institutions, foreign states and donor organizations, off-budget resources, etc.

In line with the resolution, the Center of dietology will be based on clinic No. 1 of Tashkent Medical Academy. New building of the center will be constructed in the territory of the clinics.
