Uzbekistan repairs 4,070 km of roads in 7 months

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan repaired 4,070 km of roads in seven months of 2013, representative of Uzavtoyol said on 15 August 2013.

In the reporting period, the works on current repair and maintenance for 252.3 billion soums were conducted in the reporting period.

For example, the company conducted current repair works at M-39 automobile road, which passes through Ferghana region and Jizzakh region. It also repaired general automobile road in Bukhara region and other regions.

In the reporting period, Uzavtoyol commissioned two new objects. This is a road, linking regions of Ferghana Vallay through comfortable and short roads, bypass road in Qoqand city with the length of 54 km and bypass road in Sergeli district of Tashkent with the length of 8 km.

Bypass road in Qoqand city will allow 7,000 vehicles to reach Andijan from Tashkent with comfort and save both time and fuel.

Uzavtoyol said that it is planned to construct and reconstruct 526 km of roads in 2013. It is planned to complete reconstruction of road through Kamchik pass with the length of 71 km and construct several bridges.

According to Uzavtoyol, the funds for 350 billion soums were allocated to construction and reconstruction of roads. In 2012, some 300 billion soums were directed to road construction and reconstruction. Overall, 2100 km of pavement were repaired in 2012.

In line with investment programme till 2015, it is planned to construct, reconstruct and transfer roads to four-lane pavement about 1,487 km of roads of the Uzbek national highway. It is also planned to buy 444 equipment for US$34.9 million within the programme and modernize 24 road construction and repair enterprises.

Within the programme, Uzavtoyol fully reconstructed 125 km of roads and transferred them to 4-lane roads. In particular, the company reconstructed 50 km of A-380 and 24 km of A-378 international roads. Besides, the company repaired over 49 km of Uzbek national highway.

Uzbekistan currently has 184,000 km of roads, of which 42,654 km are roads of general use.
