London-2012: Denis Istomin stuns Fernando Verdasko

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Uzbekistan number one Denis Istomin surprisingly defeated world number 16 Fernando Verdasko in the first round of tennis tournament of London Olympic Games.

Denis Istomin claimed a victory in straight sets 6:4 and 7:6 (9). The match lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes.

During the match, Denis Istomin serviced five aces against seven of Verdasco. Spaniard made three double faults against 0 of Istomin. Verdasco recorded 29 unforced errors compared to 12 of Istomin.

In the second round, Denis Istomin will face either Adrian Ungur of Romania or Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.
