Uzbekistan to improve Air Code
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Committee of industry, construction and trade of the Legislative Chamber hosted a roundtable dedicated to discussion of draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the Air code of Uzbekistan”, the press service of the Legislative Chamber said.

MPs of Legislative Chamber, representatives of Uzbekistan Havo Yollari, State Inspection of Uzbekistan on Supervision over Flights Security, aircraft operators, teachers and students, experts participated at the work of the roundtable.

It was noted that Uzbekistan Havo Yollari was founded in line with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan in 1992. During the independence years, the country carried out huge work on organization of civil aviation system, improving and implementing of international standards into the industry. Uzbekistan introduced system on management of air movement, aviation security, training of high-skilled specialists in civil aviation. In 1998, State Inspection of Uzbekistan on Supervision over Flights Security was founded to implement standards and requirements of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Uzbekistan adopted Air Code in 1993, which envisages protection of interest of the state in ensuring flight security, development of industry and providing services to population.

Uzbekistan joined to international documents, which regulate air transportation, including the Convention on international civil aviation (7 December 1944, Chicago). The country ratified the document in 1992. Uzbekistan also inked the Warsaw Convention on unification of several rules on international air transportation, signed in 1929, and ratified in 1997.

At the same time, some issues on implementation of international requirements to serving air passengers and improving its legal base should be solved. In order to solve this issues, the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan submitted a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the Air Code of Uzbekistan” to the Legislative Chamber. The draft law offers to introduce changes and amendments to several articles of the Air Code of Uzbekistan.

The draft law envisages to harmonize some articles of the Air Code with national legislation, standards and recommendations of ICAO and international agreements. The law is directed at ensuring security of passenger and freight transportation via aircrafts, creating convenience and wide spectrum of opportunities for passengers and cargo senders in line with international standards.

At the end of the event, the participants developed concrete proposals on improving national legislation in the sector.
