Uzbekistan create working group to prevent labour violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan created an Intergovernmental working group (working group) on preparing and submitting information on implementation of the conventions of International Labour Organization (ILO), ratified by Uzbekistan, on 25 March 2011.

The group included heads of the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of the Population, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. It also includes Uzbekistan Farmers Association, National Human Rights Center, Justice Ministry, Internal Affairs Ministry, Public Education Ministry, Higher and Secondary Special Education Ministry, Healthcare Ministry, Women’s Committee and Kamolot Public Youth Movement. The group was created on ILO three-party principle, which requires participation of the government, employees and employers.

The main goal of the working group is to prepare information for the ILO on measures, adopted in Uzbekistan, on protection of labor rights, children rights, preventing neglect, forced labour, etc.

The working group will also ensure protection of rights and interest of people under the age of 18 at accepting to work and protection of labour conditions.

The working group will also coordinate activity of the state bodies and entities, as well as public organizations in labour relations, introduce proposals on preventing violations among under ages, protecting their rights and interests in labour relations.

Among the tasks of the group are also preparation of national action plans on implementation of the ILO recommendations and control over execution of ratified ILO conventions, develop proposals on interactions with the ILO, prepare and submit information on implementation of ILO conventions in Uzbekistan.

The group will inform ILO on adopted measures in Uzbekistan on developing effective forms of employment in context of Global Pact on jobs.

The group will also control over adherence of the labour laws on minimal age of employment, protection and conditions of labour for people under age f 18, as well as prevent the worst form of children labour.
